Soil investigation prior to the water main project which extended from Lake Ontario in Oakville, northwards into the Milton and Georgetown area required careful planning and execution across a diverse range of urban and suburban environments.
Project Details
This project executed hundreds of feet of overburden and Queenston Formation bedrock drilling. The geological conditions presented varying challenges as the route progressed from the lakebed northwards through the region.
Challenges and Coordination
The project included many locations which required:
- Drilling through municipal right-of-ways with minimal disruption to traffic and local residents
- Cooperating with landowners along the route to secure access agreements
- Coordinating locations with the client to align with the overall project timeline
Our team’s experience in urban drilling environments proved invaluable, allowing us to navigate the complexities of working within established communities while maintaining the highest standards of safety and data quality. The successful completion of this investigation provided the critical geotechnical data needed to inform the design and construction of this essential water infrastructure.
